June 29 - July 1 - Colorado Trail Days

Colorado Trail Days is a 3-day celebration of the outdoors, featuring free clinics on backpacking and wilderness skills, gear demos, prizes, live music, and more. We'll be giving away some awesome swag from Osprey Packs, Outdoor Research, MSR and more. Whether you're a day-hiker, thru-hiker, or all-around lover of the outdoors, CT Days is a great opportunity to spruce up on your outdoor skills, win some prizes, and meet new hiking buddies. Proceeds from tickets and prize drawings benefit Trails 2000.

A big thanks to this year's Colorado Trail Days official sponsors, including:

July 10 - "The Hunter" by Julia Leigh: Outdoor Book Club Meeting

A man identified only as "M" is hired by a multinational biotech company to locate and hunt down the last known Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine. Beginning at a remote house on the fringe of a vast wilderness, M embarks on a fateful course deep into the forest and an ancient world of silence and stillness. The Hunter is a haunting adventure tale of obsession and redemption, worthy of Conrad or Melville, where a business proposition takes on mythic aspects, as the quest for an extinct animal becomes a search not for ultimate profit but for the essence of life that technology has all but crushed.

Pick up a copy of "The Hunter" at Maria's Bookshop for 15% off then join us for our bi-monthly book club discussion at Crow's Closet, 750 Main Ave. in Durango. Bonus points if you also watch the movie with Willem Dafoe.
