Women Outside Adventure Forum

The Women Outside Adventure Forum is a 3-day extravaganza featuring rock star athletes, writers, filmmakers, and activists. This year's theme was Wild Places & Open Spaces featuring Steph Davis, Bears Ears advocate Jacqueline Keeler, and conservation filmmakers Jenny Nichols and Jane Zelikova among others.


3rd Annual Colorado Trail Days 

Colorado Trail Days is a 3-day celebration of the outdoors, featuring free clinics on backpacking and wilderness skills, gear demos, prizes, live music, and more. Whether you're a day-hiker, thru-hiker, or all-around lover of the outdoors, CT Days is a great opportunity to spruce up on your outdoor skills, win some prizes, and meet new hiking buddies. 


Chili Chase 10K Trail Run & Cook-off

Ready to run? Our annual Chili Chase is now a 10K trail run benefitting the San Juan Mountains Alliance. Hit the trail or decide who makes the best chili in town. Is it Osprey Packs? Serious Texas BBQ? Or Backcountry Experience? You be the judge. And don't worry about going hungry, we'll have 20+ chilis to taste from local organizations and businesses. 


Youth Short Story & Essay Contest

We launched our first annual Youth Short Story & Essay Contest this last winter for kids 18-years-old and younger. We received entries by talented young writers from across  Colorado. Check out our catalog for the winning story or stay tuned to our blog to read the runners up. 


Backcountry Experience Outdoor Book Club

Love reading about the outdoors as much as you love playing in it? Sign up for our Outdoor Book Club. We read contemporary and classic fiction, non-fiction and maybe even some poetry. Our meetings are every-other-month at Crow's Closet on Main Ave. 


BCEXP Educational Programs & Clinics

The more you know, the more fun you can have outside. We host regular educational clinics for climbers, backpackers, backcountry skiers and snowboarders, and runners. Most clinics are either free or low cost. Follow us to stay up-to-date on our clinic schedule.
