Meet Durango's own Barry Ward, owner of Durango Sewing and portaledge builder. Barry will discuss his history of building climbing gear as well as his tenure big wall climbing. He will also showcase the newest advancement in portaledge technology, the D4.

Anchor Building with Marcus Garcia - $10

There is a lot of complicated information out there about anchor systems. Learn to spot the good from the bad, and what is important in your system. In this clinic, Marcus Garcia will talk about and explain basic anchors system. Find out what really matters in building anchors and keeping a team secure on climbs.

We'll cover:
1. Anchoring the team to the wall
2. Loads on the anchor
3. Protecting the climber
4. Protecting fixed anchors

Sunday, April 15, 10am-1pm at The Rock Lounge
Movement Efficiency with Marcus Garcia - $45

Learn to climb with quiet, smooth moves in this 3-hour clinic with Marcus Garcia. By breaking down the process of individual moves, you'll begin to better understand the process of movement.

We'll work on:
1) Focusing on using just enough muscle contraction to hold the hold and make the moves
2) Understanding what muscle is being used to hold and move
4) Engaging your antagonist muscles to aid in movement
5) Climbing pace 
6) Working on good breathing-driven movement while monitoring your Heart Rate

Tuesday, April 17, 6-8pm at The Powerhouse Science Center
Durango Premiere of "Mixtress" with Dawn Glanc - $10

Dawn Glanc is coming to Durango to screen her new film "Mixtress." Mixed climbing, especially sport mixed climbing, has been rapidly changing. Over the past 20 years, a few women in North America have put their mark on mixed climbing history. This is a movie about each one of these modern pioneers. The women in this film have raised the bar in mixed climbing and have helped shape the genre into what it is today. Featuring Kitty Calhoun, Kim Csizmazia, Jen Olson, Sarah Hueniken, Dawn Glanc, Kendra Stritch, Katie Bono, and Georgia Witchel.

Sunday, April 22, 2-5pm at Backcountry Experience
Intro to Wilderness First Aid for Climbers - $10

We're pairing up with Kling Mountain Guides and the American Alpine Club - Durango Chapter to present an Intro to Wilderness First Aid clinic. We will discuss a real-life case study and introduce skills to handle injuries in multi-pitch settings. Materials will be provided, but please bring what you would normally carry to the crag.

After your introduction, hone your skills by signing up for a full WFA/WFR class with Kling Mountain Guides.
